An integrated Operation Vala Umgodi resulted in the arrest of 37 undocumented persons who are also suspected to be illegal miners in Randfontein, Mohlakeng and Bekkersdal, West Rand District on Monday 25 March 2024.
Another suspect was arrested for dealing in drugs after he was found in possession of crystal meth, mandrax, and dagga.
The team also seized the following tools used by illegal miners:

· 04 Gas Cylinders
· 01 Motor
· 04 Cutting torches
· 05 Oxygen pipes
· 02 Spades
· 01 Bucket of gold bearing material
· 07 Regulators
The multi-disciplinary Operation Vala Umgodi, consisting of various law enforcement agencies that include South African Police Service and South African National Defence Force and is continuing to yield positive results in Gauteng Province.
