Teenager apprehended while joyriding in Waterloo

A 19-year-old male was apprehended by Reaction Officers while joyriding with his aunt’s vehicle in Waterloo – KZN last night (Friday).

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were in the process of detaining three suspects at the Tongaat SAPS when the female arrived seeking assistance. She informed Law Enforcement Officers that her teenage nephew sped off with her silver Toyota Etios from her property in Hambanathi – KZN.

She was tracking her vehicle on her cellphone. The car was traveling on the R102 towards Canelands – KZN. The information was circulated to Reaction Officers in Verulam – KZN. Officers tracked the car to Lily Road in Waterloo – KZN.

The teenager informed RUSA Members that he was visiting friends in the area.

The vehicle was handed back to the owner after she declined to register a criminal case.
