Thieves apprehended in Verulam

Two habitual thieves were apprehended by members of Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa) shortly after they stole from a business premises.

A Reaction Officer noticed two males fleeing the property on Todd Street in Verulam – KZN at approximately 09:36. The Officer called for back up and pursued the suspects towards the Verulam CBD. Both suspects were apprehended during the chase.

During an interview, the men confirmed that it was the second time they gained entry into the premises since yesterday. They further stated that the first pot stolen yesterday was sold to a passerby for R80. They returned to steal a second clay pot when they was spotted by the Reaction Officer.

One of the suspects is a habitual thief and Heroin addict. He has been arrested by RUSA Members on several occasions
and served sentences at Westville prison in Westville – KZN for cases ranging from housebreaking and drug possession.

The owner of the stolen items did not desire a criminal case, which resulted in the suspects being released.
