Ethiopian National suspect arrested for dealing in illicit drugs in Jane Furse

The Limpopo Provincial Organized Crime Unit arrested a 43-year-old Ethiopian national male suspect for dealing in illicit drugs at one of the complexes in Jane Furse on Tuesday, 16 April 2024.

The Provincial Organised Crime Unit received a tip-off, followed up on information, and found the suspect who is an owner of the store in town. The police took him to his place of residence.

Upon arrival at his residence in the Morena complex, they found 74 sachets of heroin and one big plastic bag containing a brownish powder substance suspected to be heroin inside the wardrobe.

The estimated street value of drugs is one million (R1000 000-00) and cash money to the value of one hundred and sixty-five thousand and four hundred (R165 400-00) was seized.

While busy searching, the members noticed counterfeit products and were also registered.

Subsequently, the suspect was arrested and charged with dealing in illicit drugs.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe applauded the team for their swift response as drugs are a major contributor to most crimes.

The suspect will appear before Nebo Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 18 April 2024 for dealing in illicit drugs.
