Musina Task Team Police confiscate a Toyota Bakkie and illicit cigarettes with a combined value of more than R350 000

The members of Musina Task Team have made a significant confiscation of a Toyota bakkie and illicit cigarettes with a combined value of more than R350,000.00 during an intelligence driven operation that was executed at Matswale Extension 10, on Wednesday 24 April 2024 at about 14:30.

Police members attached to Musina Task Team operationalised valuable information about a male suspect who was reportedly driving a silver brown Toyota bakkie loaded with illicit cigarettes in the area. The motor vehicle fitting the description circulated was spotted at Matswale Extension 10.

Musina Task Team members closely monitored and pursued the motor vehicle until it stopped at one of the residences in the area. Upon realising that he is being followed by the police, the suspect alighted from the motor vehicle and unexpectedly jumped the fence and disappeared in the nearby bushes in an attempt to evade arrest.

The motor vehicle was searched and police found a large quantity of illicit cigarettes comprising of 25 master boxes and 46 cartons containing Remington Gold cigarettes with an estimated street value of R150.000.

The illicit cigarettes together with a Silver brown Toyota bakkie were immediately confiscated.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, hailed the industrious efforts displayed by the members in their persistent and hard work in ridding this Province of any form of criminality.

A manhunt for the suspect is underway and police request anyone with information that can assist to contact the Investigating Officer Captain David Mashambe on 082 488 3140 or Crime Stop number 08600 10111 or nearest police station or MySAPS App.

Police investigations are continuing.
