Police remove drugs from the streets in Postmasburg

In the quest to eradicate the root causes of crime, the Acting District Commissioner of ZF Mgcawu, Brigadier Monica Sebili reacted on information received about illicit mining activities and drug activities that is taking place in Postmasburg and mobilised the Vala Umgodi team.

The Operation Vala Umgodi Operational Commander in Frances Baard, Lieutenant Colonel Boitumelo Seleke assembled a team and operationalised the intelligence driven information on Saturdays, 06 April 2024.

The members searched drug houses and premises and confiscated drugs with an estimated street value of R 17 000-00, suspected diamond bearing gravel and a substantial amount of money believed to be the proceeds of crime.

The team arrested two South Afrian male suspects, age 30 and 35 years old respectively for dealing in drugs and two Nigerian male suspects, age 39 and 45 years old for possession of drugs.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Postmasburg Magistrate Court on Monday, 08 April 2024, on the said charges.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Luntu Ngubelanga lauded the members for their relentless efforts in removing drugs off the streets and appreciated the support abd assistance of the community structures in providing the police with vital information which resulted in positive successes.
