The police in Limpopo through multidisciplinary operation Vala Umgodi seize mining equipment found in illegal mining sites

The Police in Limpopo through Operation Vala Umgodi have confiscated mining equipment that were found on illegal mining sites.

On Wednesday, 03 April 2024, the Border Police Team, in Beitbridge Port of Entry, have confiscated a donkey cart that is believed to be used for smuggling counterfeit goods crossing the Limpopo River between Zimbabwe and South Africa.

The Police in Vhembe District have confiscated mining equipment at mining sites that are believed to be used for processing precious minerals that included 12x penducars1x shovel, 2x motors and 4x motor belts and 4 x bags containing precious metals.

In addition on Wednesday, 03 April 2024, the Police in the Sekhukhune District have seized multiple stock piles of chrome in various illegal mining sites.

The Police are on hard on the heels of the illegal miners who reportedly evaded arrest during these disruptive operations.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe hailed the industrious work conducted by the members in ridding this Province of Illegal mining activities.

Anyone with information that can assist the Police in the apprehension of illegal mining suspects is requested to forward tip-off to MySAPSapp or reported to the SAPS Crime Stop at 08600 10111 alternatively report to the nearest Police Station.
