Tshwane Metro Police Department arrested five people during an operation conducted in Hammanskraal

It has been previously stated that the Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) intensified road safety operations that are conducted regularly in all Tshwane regions, this initiation that is aimed at reducing crime, unlawful behaviour and reduction of road fatalities has proved to be very effective given the daily success updates that the TMPD has been issuing.

On Friday 05 April 2024, TMPD regional members conducted an operation in region 2 Hammanskraal area where about 116 vehicles were searched and inspected. 51 infringement fines were issued. 5 people were arrested of which, one driver arrested for drunk driving, three people arrested for public drinking and one person arrested for interfering with the instructions of officers.

Apart from these operations, TMPD is also mandated to enforce by-laws in the City of Tshwane. Illegal dumping is one of the issues that the TMPD is tackling. In the Centurion area, one person was issued with a R5000 fine for disposing of waste in an unauthorised place. This should serve as a warning to people who dump illegally.

Members of the public are advised to report illegal dumping to TMPD at 012 358 7095/6. It is advisable to also have details such as a number plate, date, place and description of the vehicle that is dumping for the purpose of tracing such a vehicle to issue a fine and enforcing the law.
