Two suspects arrested for kidnapping and armed robbery in Thembisa

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Thembisa Precinct Officers arrested two suspects for kidnapping and armed robbery on Letsiakarane Street and Kokomain at the Tsenelong section, in the Thembisa area.

As were Officers on patrol, they noticed a silver Toyota Corolla that was driving opposite direction, and heard the voice of a man crying for help coming from the vehicle. Officers made a U-turn and the vehicle stopped on Letsiakarane Street, when the suspect who occupied the front seat opened the door and ran away on foot. A chase ensued but officers did not manage to find him as it was dark.

The victim explained to officers that they had been kidnapped since 16:00 by the two gentlemen, and they were carrying knives and threatening to kill him. The suspects drove with the victims from house to house collecting money that was owed to them by their customers. Officers drove with the one suspect searching for the second suspect who ran away, and found him at Tshepo section in his room.

The male suspects, between the ages of 28 and 33 years, were detained at Rabasotho police station facing charges of kidnapping, and armed robbery, and will appear at Thembisa Magistrate’s Court soon.
