Two suspects arrested for possession of a hijacked motor vehicle and unlicensed firearms in Vlakfontein

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) Tactical Response Unit (TRU) received a complaint about an off-duty TRU member in need of assistance in the Vlakfontein area.

Upon arrival at the location along Golden Highway in Vlakfontein, officers found the officer, accompanied by Capital Air Tracking Company, surrounded by a large group from the community.

It was discovered that, with the help of community members, they had recovered a hijacked Nissan NP 200, apprehended two male suspects, and found a plastic belonging to the suspects inside the vehicle, which contained four firearms.

It is alleged that three of the firearms belong to the suspects, while the fourth was taken from the complainant during the hijacking.

The suspects have been arrested for possession of a hijacked motor vehicle and unlicensed firearms, and detained at
Lenasia South SAPS. They will appear in court soon. The hijacked vehicle has been impounded at SAPS Lenasia pound.
