Two suspects detained for the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition

Committed to keep their communities safe, police members detained two suspects in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition in separate incidents in Worcester and Kleinvlei respectively.

Worcester police members were busy with crime combatting duties on Tuesday 16 April 2024 in the rural sector when they saw a person of interest to whom they had to serve a protection order. The adult male appeared to be restless and made several attempts to be excused. The police members persisted to search the man. They confiscated a .38 Rossi revolver with ammunition found in his possession. They detained the adult male on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Meanwhile police members of the Anti-Gang Unit conducted disruptive operations in the Kleinvlei policing precinct on Tuesday 16 April 2024. Upon arrival in Rajesh Crescent in Forest Village, they executed a search warrant and in the process confiscated a pistol with ammunition found in the possession of a 23-year-old man. They detained the adult male on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Once charged, the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Worcester and Blue Downs Magistrates’ court on the mentioned charges.
