Update on road conditions: Oudtshoorn

OUTENIQUA PASS: Reopened, but surfaces remain wet. Please proceed with caution and reduce speed.

MEIRINGS POORT: Closed due to rain and flooding.

SWARTBERG PASS: Closed due to rain and flooding.

CANGO CAVES ROAD: The Roadway cleared, but ongoing rockfall risk. Drive safely; monitoring is in progress.
BARON VAN REEDE STREET: Only one lane is usable due to water on the road. Exercise caution.

NOORD STREET: Please drive with caution as the water is flowing a bit strongly on the road.

JAN VAN RIEBEECK STREET: Jan Van Riebeeck Street between Simpson Street and Rademeyer Street to the show grounds are closed due to a tree that has fallen over.

LOW WATER BRIDGES: Avoid crossing at Church, Van Der Riet, Albert and Rademeyer Street due to strong water flow. Seek alternative routes.

FLOOD DAMAGE ALERT: Reports of flood damage in Blomnek/De Rust area and also parts of Oudtshoorn.

ALL IRRIGATION WATER USERS: All irrigation water users who have grids in the ditch are requested to please take them out. There is stormwater that runs into the ditches, and it causes blockages, flooding residents’ homes upstream. We also request that the grills be cleaned please.

PLEASE BE AWARE OF MUNICIPAL WORKERS CURRENTLY WORKING ON THE ROADS IN THE GREATER OUDTSHOORN. DRIVE RESPONSIBLY AND ENSURE THEIR SAFETY AS THEY CARRY OUT THEIR DUTIES.
