A 38 year old female was shot after she attempted to defend herself and her two children during a home invasion/hijacking in Hazelmere – KZN.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for assistance after the victim alerted neighbours of the incident. Reaction Officers were immediately dispatched.
On arrival, RUSA Members were informed that three armed suspects entered the home and confronted the female, her 12 year old son and 23-year-old daughter.
Her son was forced under a bed after he began screaming hysterically. The robbers demanded valuables and shot the female in her right arm & pelvis when she attempted to defend her family.
The suspects searched the home and discovered the keys to the family’s grey VW Jetta 5 with registration NJ 107 697. They stole a Samsung cellphone and sped off in the female’s vehicle. The injured woman was expedited privately to hospital.
Her children were not injured.
