Fourteen suspects that were responsible for perpetrating crime in the Central Business District of Verulam – Kwazulu Natal have been arrested in a joint operation between the South African Police Services (SAPS) & Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA).
The Operation was planned this morning by the Verulam SAPS Crime Prevention Unit, Sector Managers & Reaction
Officers targeting hideouts along the greenbelt and the railway line surrounding the CBD.
Officers kept observation and surrounded the area blocking off all entry exits. Fourteen suspects were arrested for possession of dangerous weapons, possession of drugs, robberies & attempted murder (stabbings).
One suspect was identified as a Pakistani National from Gujarat in the state of Punjab. The other thirteen suspects are South African Nationals. A car guard was also arrested.
