A man was killed after robbery suspects opened fire at a scrap metal business in Amoutana – KZN.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for medical assistance for the injured male.
Reaction Officers and RUSA Paramedics were immediately dispatched to the property on Rambokhoza Road.
On arrival, RUSA Members were directed down an embankment. Upon examination, the victim was found to have sustained a gunshot wound to his chest. He demised prior to the arrival of First Responders.
Reaction Officers interviewed surviving witnesses who stated that several individuals were in the yard of the scrap metal business when two suspects randomly opened fire on them. Customers and the owner of the business fled into a nearby bush. The robbers entered the residence and stole R2000 in cash before they fled in an unknown direction.
The owner of the business discovered that one of the scrap metal collectors was shot and contacted RUSA for assistance.
