Stock theft worth more than R500 000 recovered by SAPS

The participation of SAPS members, in a special high-density #StockTheft operation across Joe Gqabi District borders under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Mlata yielded significant successes over the weekend.

Members from the Stock Theft and Endangered Species unit from Alfred Nzo, OR Tambo, Chris Hani and Joe Gqabi respectively together with the Barkly East Mounted unit embarked in a special operation in combating stock theft within Joe Gqabi District. They worked tirelessly around the clock in reaching out on mountains, forests utilizing mounted unit in checking livestock that is hidden in mountains and forests.

During the operation they recovered 68 cattle, 105 sheep and 135 goats to the estimated value of more than R500 00.00. After the recovery, these livestock were impounded and will be handed over to lawful owners after being identified by branded mark.
