An Intelligence driven operation by deployed Majola tactical team yesterday, 24 June 2024 at about 12:30, resulted in the arrest of a 26-year-old male suspect at Ntanzi locality, Nkumbini Administrative Area in Lusikisiki for possession of two alleged stolen vehicles and an unlicensed firearm (9mm pistol) with ammunition.
Upon operationalising the information, team members proceeded to his homestead and upon searching the premises, they recovered two stolen Toyota vehicles (bakkies). Through further investigation it was established that the other vehicle was stolen at Flagstaff in January 2024 whilst the bakkie had a false disc that doesn’t correspond with the vehicle. Police confiscated the vehicles and a firearm, and investigation is continuing.
The suspect was arrested and detained at Port St John’s SAPS facing the charges of possession of two alleged stolen vehicles and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
The 26-year-old suspect will appear before the Port St Johns Magistrate’s Court soon.
