In the quest to rid the streets of drugs, police officers continues to apprehend offenders and ensure that they are brought before a court of law to face prosecution.
Malmesbury police followed up on information about a premise used to distribute drugs within their precinct. The members operationalised the information at their disposal and entered a residence in Nonqubela Street in Ilinge Lethu on Thursday 06 June 2024 at around 16:30. The members searched all occupants and the premises. Their patience was rewarded when they recovered 40 mandrax tablets, 20 straws and two sachets filled with methamphetamine hidden underneath a cupboard. They detained a 32-year-old man on a charge of possession of drugs.
In an unrelated incident Mitchells plain police executed a search warrant on Friday 07 June 2024. Upon arrival in Fontein Street they entered and searched the premises, in the process confiscated 58 mandrax tablets, 61 heroine straws, 84 sachets filled with methamphetamine, one . 38 special round of ammunition and cash. They detained a 33-year-old man on charges of dealing in drugs and the unlawful possession of ammunition.
The suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Malmesbury and Mitchells Plain Magistrates’ courts, once charged.
