Replica firearm used in armed robbery recovered in Durban!
Fidelity ADT response officer traveling on the Edwin Swales witnessed a robbery of a person in progress on the pedestrian bridge that leads from Rossburgh to Umbilo.
While waiting for his backup, he then parked his company vehicle off where the armed robbers could not see him and made his way closer to the pedestrian bridge on foot. As soon as the robbers noticed the officers, they threw the victim to the ground and fled on foot, with the victim’s backpack in their possession, and fled in different directions.
During the foot chase, one of the four suspects fell to the ground and dropped his replica firearm but managed to escape on foot. The firearm was secured by our response officer. The stolen backup contained the victim’s cell phone and laptop. However, the devices were turned off already and could not be tracked.
