Armed robbery gone wrong in Gqeberha

Armed robbery gone wrong; suspects arrested in Gqeberha! On Saturday evening, Fidelity response officer was dispatched to a panic signal at a petrol station on Cape Road.

On arrival at the premises, he noticed the suspects exit the shop and immediately jumped into action while calling for backup. The suspects realized that they had been noticed and a chase ensued. The chase continued through the Cotswold area and into the quarry, where the suspects bumped the gates open to gain access.

The officer continued to chase but ended up losing the vehicle at the end of the quarry. Information was given over to SAPS during the chase, and SAPS then managed to recover the vehicle, which was found overturned in the Malabar area. The suspects were not on scene, but the goods were recovered.

However, the suspects left their phones and empty magazines in the vehicle, which allowed the SAPS to retrieve a profile picture of one of the suspects. Later that evening, the same suspects made the mistake of going to the police station to report their hijacked vehicle and were subsequently recognized and arrested!
