The system scored a double win by identifying two stolen vehicles with cloned license plates.
A sought-after vehicle was flagged and detected, linked to a theft case in Sebokeng. Acting with lightning speed, GPG officers dispatched to the vehicle’s last known location based on real-time camera footage.
Meanwhile, in Randburg, another perceptive operator identified a second vehicle with a license plate that did not have a VIN number and followed the same protocol. With clear descriptions and the vehicles’ exact locations, both units were able to intercept the stolen cars and apprehend the suspects.
These cases demonstrate the operators’ ability to analyse camera footage and identify discrepancies in license plate details, a crucial strength that significantly aids law enforcement in tackling criminal activity.
