A 35-year-old intoxicated motorcyclist was severely assaulted with a spade during a road rage incident at the R102 and Northern Drive intersection in Phoenix – KZN.
A witness contacted the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Operations Centre requesting urgent assistance at the scene. According to the caller, three males in a white Kia bakkie were assaulting a motorcyclist at the intersection. Reaction Officers were immediately dispatched and arrived on scene.
The biker was located on the centre island bleeding from multiple lacerations to his head. He explained that three males attacked him during a road rage incident. One of the suspects repeatedly hacked him with a spade on his head. The blood stained spade was discarded next to the road.
They stole his helmet before they sped off from the scene. The motorcyclist generates an income by conducting deliveries for a pizza parlour based in Umhlanga – KZN.
The biker was intoxicated and unable to provide a registration or description of the suspects.
