A wanted Robbery suspect was tracked & arrested by a Team of Officers from Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) in Bhambayi – KZN last night.
Reaction Officers were working on information received of a suspect wanted for a housebreaking & robbery in Phoenix – Kwazulu Natal. The suspect is a resident of Kwa Mashu – KZN and had forcefully gained entry into a premises and robbed the business for valuables worth R300 000. Three laptops with irreplaceable information was also taken. An unknown vehicle was used to load the stolen goods. The kingpin was captured on CCTV cameras removing the stolen goods on the night of the incident.
Last night (Thursday) at around midnight, Reaction Officers received information that a suspect was selling the stolen items in Kwa Mashu and Bhambayi, a settlement in the Inanda Region North of Durban – KZN. Reaction Unit SA immediately mobilised a team to Bhambayi. Upon arrival Reaction Officers abandoned their vehicles and then travelled for approximately three kilometres on foot recovering several stolen items including two laptops from residences in the area. After four hours the suspect was tracked to a home and arrested. The man was found in possession of property suspected to be stolen.
Reaction Officers then identified him from the CCTV footage and walked him back to the vehicles three kilometres away.
He was detained at SAPS Phoenix in Kwazulu Natal.
