Reaction Officers tracked down and arrested a suspect wanted for a crime committed in November 2023.
Detective Warrant Officer Patrick Gengan from SAPS Verulam in Kwazulu Natal made contact with Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) yesterday evening (Monday) seeking assistance in locating a suspect wanted on Verulam Crime Administration System (CAS) 209/01/2024 – Theft of Motor Vehicle.
The Detective informed Reaction Officers that the suspect was wanted since January 2024 and had evaded arrest since. He added that seven unsuccessful attempts were made to arrest him after the car was located stripped in Durban – KZN (pictures 23/24). According to the Police, the suspect was operating a tow truck and a scrap yard. He had stolen the vehicle from a female client & sold her blue Renault Triber to an unsuspecting buyer for R4500. The vehicle was then resold to a Pakistani National for R15 000 and was recovered stripped. The suspect has been evading Law
Enforcement since.
This evening Reaction Officers planned an operation & lured the suspect to Cornubia. After a brief observation in an unmarked vehicle, Officers arrested the suspect. He was positively identified by the female complainant and the Investigating Officer.
The suspect is currently in detention.
