A 35 year old female was scammed with counterfeit notes while utilising an ATM on Wick Street in the Verulam CBD – KZN today (Thursday).
The woman arrived at Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Headquarters and informed Reaction Officers that she was in the process of depositing notes of different denominations into the ATM when a male approached her.
He had a stack of R200 notes and requested smaller demonisations from her. The unsuspecting victim handed over four R100 notes and collected two R200 bills.
She thereafter proceeded to a store to purchase items and was informed that the notes were fake.
