Hijackers arrested in a combined effort in Algoa Park.
While on patrol in the Algoa Park area yesterday afternoon, Fidelity armed response officer noted community members chasing multiple males and ascertained that six armed men had hijacked a driver and his vehicle in the area.
Vigilant community members witnessed the hijacking and immediately reacted to assist and stop the vehicle. Without hesitation, our officer immediately joined the chase and, together with the community, managed to arrest one of the suspects.
While the Fidelity officer detained the suspect, the vigilant community managed to catch a second suspect, who was also handed over to our team and cuffed as well. No shots were fired, and four suspects managed to flee. SAPS was notified, arrived on site and the suspects were handed over. The hijacked vehicle and owner were safely found on the corner of Dyke and Link Road.
Well done to the vigilant community who took it upon themselves to selflessly react, and to our response officer for jumping in without hesitation.
