The Northern Cape Provincial Task Team together with members from the ZF Mgcawu District delivered a blow to drug dealers operating in the Upington area.
On Friday, 23 August 2024, the team operationalised information in Dakota weg, Morning Glory and the Upington CBD, that led to the arrest of eight (8) suspects and seizure of mandrax and dagga and cash believed to be the proceeds of crime.
The suspects, between the ages of 30 and 39 were arrested on charges of dealing in drugs, selling liquor without a license and illegal possession of drugs. It is believed that two of the suspects are undocumented foreign nationals
Drugs with an estimated value of R38 100 were confiscated during the search actions.
The team will continue to work tirelessly to address the scourge of drugs within the communities in the Northern Cape Province.
