Fidelity SIU team in Nelspruit received a BOLO on a community group for five suspects that robbed PEP Carolina when they opened.
The suspects took cash, cellphones, and clothes and fled in an unknown vehicle in the direction of Nelspruit/ Baberton.
The Fidelity SIU team proceeded towards Baberton, where a suspicious VW polo with five suspects was spotted. Back-up was requested, and a high-speed chase started through Nelspruit’s residential area.
The chase ended in Matafini where the suspect lost control of the vehicle and crashed through a wall.
The suspects began firing at the SIU team member as they began to flee the scene. The driver was arrested and handed over to SAPS. All stolen items were recovered.
After further investigation, it was discovered that the vehicle used in the robbery was stolen in a house robbery earlier in the month.
