The National Counterfeit Unit, working together with their KwaZulu-Natal counterparts, including Pietermaritzburg Public Order Policing and K9 unit members executed a search and seizure warrant in terms of the Customs and Excise Act.
The counterfeit, contraband and illicit goods operation was conducted at a mall in Pietermaritzburg on Thursday, 26 September 2024.
R6.3 million of counterfeit goods including clothing items and electronic devices were recovered and seized.
The operation to establish the origin of the recovered goods is underway.
