People are happy that there is a high visibility of a highly motivated team from the department’s Road Traffic Inspectorate in all routes leading up to eNyokeni Royal Palace.
“The 40th year anniversary of the Reed Dance is an international showpiece that gives us the opportunity to showcase our unity and our heritage to the world,” MEC for Transport and Human Settlements Siboniso Duma stated.
Duma spent the whole of yesterday afternoon and this morning with the team conducting roadblocks and doing spot-checks.
Duma stated: ” Working with SANRAL, we are using the cutting edge technology to monitor the travelling of maidens to Nyokeni. We are also monitoring the flow of traffic and the movement goods on the N2 and N3. These major routes are clear of any obstructions.”
“We thank taxi and bus drivers who are transporting maidens for showing an extra care on the roads. In addition, we thank truck drivers and SA Freight Association for their co-operation.”
