A suspect sought for an armed robbery that occurred in June 2024 was apprehended by the victim with the assistance of the community in Mhlasini – KZN.
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out at approximately 11:32. On arrival, the complainant informed Reaction Officers that the man and his accomplice robbed her of her valuables. The suspect in custody was in possession of a knife during the robbery which occurred on George Sewpersad Street in Verulam – KZN.
Today, the victim spotted the suspect in Mhlasini – KZN and sought assistance from the public to apprehend him. They confronted the man who fled into a bush. The community pursued and apprehended him. During questioning, he led the mob to a location where the victim’s wallet containing her ATM and identification card was located (picture 2).
The suspect was restrained by Reaction Officers and detained at the Verulam SAPS.
