Stolen cables recovered at an illegal recycling center in Seadoone

EITT members conducted operations in Kwamakhuta and Amanzimtoti. During the operation, a recycling center in Seadoone, Amanzimtoti, was found operating illegally without permits. Acting on suspicion, the team discovered 216 meters of stolen cabling hidden in a container on the premises. The stolen items, belonging to MTN, Cell C, and Vodacom, were recovered.

Charges:
1. Tampering with essential infrastructure.
2. Contravening Section 36: Possession of property reasonably suspected to be stolen.
3. Contravening Section 37: Receiving property reasonably suspected to be stolen.
4. Failing to register as a dealer in secondhand goods.

Arrests:
– Two Indian females, ages 39 and 42, were detained at Amanzimtoti SAPS.

Recovery Details:
– 110 meters of MTN cabling.
– 18 meters of Vodacom cabling.
– 81 meters of Cell C cabling.
– Total estimated value: R150,000.

The operation was a success with the recovery of critical infrastructure materials.
