The speedy reaction from Nelspruit Flying Squad members saved a life and assisted in the recovery of a hijacked vehicle, resulting in one suspect (48) being arrested yesterday, Sunday 22 September 2024 at about 23:30.
Members were performing their normal patrol duties on the N4 corridor when they received information from a tracking company about a vehicle that was reportedly hijacked.
Information detailed that the victim was also kidnapped. The team, consisting of SAPS members as well as the tracking team followed the information and located the vehicle at Kabokweni.
Upon noticing that the well formidable team followed their tracks and found them, three suspects jumped out of the vehicle and fled. The team managed to rescue the victim who was found with his hands tied up.
The team searched the surrounding areas in the bushes, and it was during this time when they cornered one suspect and arrested him. In his possession, the suspect reportedly had the victim’s cell phone.
The suspect is facing several charges, including car hijacking, kidnapping, and robbery.
He is expected to appear at the Kabokweni Magistrate’s Court soon.
