The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) is committed to ensuring the safety of all road users and will take decisive action against those who choose to disregard the law and put others at risk.
From 21st October 2024 to 27th October 2024, JMPD officers have arrested 83 motorists for driving under the influence of alcohol.
The JMPD remains steadfast in its zero-tolerance approach to drunk driving. We will continue to conduct regular roadblocks, patrols, and targeted operations to apprehend individuals who endanger the lives of others by driving while intoxicated.
We urge all motorists to make responsible choices and prioritize safety on the roads. Please designate a sober driver, utilize public transportation, or arrange for alternative transportation if you plan to consume alcohol.
