The operations were successful and suspects were arrested for various offenses from Friday 18 October 2024 to Sunday 20 October 2024 by members of law enforcers and other stakeholders during their high-density operations conducted across Ekurhuleni Policing Precincts.
The detectives, during their suspects’ raiding operations, arrested 173 suspects, which included 111 suspects nabbed for contact Crimes, 37 for other serious Crimes, 20 for Gender based violence, 5 for property Crime and 15 for contact related crimes.
Four suspects were arrested for possession of suspects stolen property.
In Ivory Park On Saturday 19 October 2024, the police received a complaint about a business robbery at one of the local churches.
It is alleged that the Pastor was busy preaching when an unknown African male entered, armed with a firearm. The suspect allegedly fired a shot and he then robbed the Pastor his IPhone 15.One of the church members grabbed the suspect from behind and managed to disarm him. The suspect fled from the scene and left his firearm at the scene. The police confiscated one black barrel and five live ammunition.
In Rabie Ridge one suspect was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. One 9mm firearm, 10 live ammunition and empty magazine were found in possession of the suspect.
In Tembisa members of Crime Prevention were on duty busy with their normal patrol when they received information from their neighbouring station regarding a robbery that took place and suspects fled the scene on foot. They acted swiftly and while they were patrolling along Link Road they noticed an African male running toward Slotjhile near Norkem Park. They chased the suspect and stopped to search him. They discovered one magazine loaded with six ammunition and 14 loose ammunition. The suspect was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
