The SAPS multi -disciplinary operation Shanela remains deliberate in reducing crime in all hot spots areas in the District. A total of 253 suspects were nabbed for various offences by the detectives across the District from, 06 November 2024 evening until the early hours of Thursday, 07 November 2024 morning.
Ekurhuleni Deputy District Commissioner Brigadier Lebohang Machakela continued with the operations comprising of the SAPS, EMPD, Home Affairs, Crime Prevention Wardens, Siyabangena Patrollers, and other stakeholders on Thursday morning in Tembisa South policing precinct which led to the apprehension of 44 suspects, amongst others are 34 undocumented persons, 2 suspects for possession of drugs (Mandrax), two for dealing in dagga , 5 suspects were arrested for operating without a liquor licence and 5 illegal liquor outlets were closed, 75 Traffic Fines to the value of R15 000, 00 were issued to the motorists and vehicles impounded.
Members of Crime Intelligence also managed to arrest a suspect for dealing in drugs, confiscated 4 replica firearms, 2 holsters and a handcuffs during their operation which was conducted on Wednesday, 06 November 2024 in Tembisa South
A walkabout was conducted in two malls around the area, Tembisa Plaza and Birch Acres mall by the District Commissioner Major General Anna Sithole, joined by the senior managers in the SAPS in order to engage with Mall managers, to strengthen security at malls , provide safety tips and ensuring shopper safety during this festive seasons.
Ekurhuleni District Commissioner, Major General Anna Sithole thanked the members of law Enforcement agencies involved for the commitment they have displayed in ensuring safety to the community ,and that those who transgress the law are brought to book.
