Approximately 70 residents gathered outside a property on Saturn Road in Riet River – KZN demanding the removal of five dogs that attacked a man this afternoon.
Paramedics from Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) stabilised a seriously injured 49 year old male who was mauled by five Pitbulls. The dogs fled onto the road and attacked the man after their owner opened the driveway gate to remove a vehicle from the yard. The pedestrian sustained bite marks to his face, legs and body. His right arm is believed to be fractured. He was expedited to hospital by ambulance.
Residents gathered outside the property following the incident demanding that the dogs be removed from the area. They complained the several of their pets were brutally killed by the Pitbulls. The feared that the dogs would attack other pedestrians and children.
Reaction Officers and the Verulam SAPS are on scene.
