Woman repeatedly stabbed in Amouti

A 44-year-old woman was repeatedly stabbed in her head with a broken beer bottle and a knife by a man known to her.

Reaction Unit South Africa was called out to Amouti – KZN by the victims family after she was attacked and found bleeding on the roadside.

Reaction Officers arrived at 07:50 (Sunday) and established that the suspect stabbed the 28 year old suspect stabbed the victim after his mobile phone could not be located while consuming liquor. He blamed the woman who was seated nearby and broke a beer bottle and stabbed her multiple times.

He then used a knife to stab her again. According to information the suspect was in possession of a knife & was frequently seen with an unlicensed firearm.

Reaction Officers called for additional back-up and located the suspect after a lenghy foot chase. He drew a knife upon noticing an approaching Reaction Officer. Back-up Officers had to fire a shot forcing the suspect to drop his weapon.

The suspect was arrested and detained.

The victim is in a critical condition at a local hospital (details withheld).
