A 26-year-old habitual burglary and theft suspect was arrested by Reaction Officers in Dawncrest – KZN.
A resident of Kestral Grove contacted the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Operations Centre at approximately 08:23 reporting a burglary in progress at her neighbours residence.
All available Reaction Officers were dispatched and on arrival noticed a suspect matching the description provided by the caller fleeing from the yard. He was apprehended by RUSA Members while attempting to conceal himself in overgrown vegetation. A bag containing house breaking implements was recovered in his possession.
It was thereafter established that the caller is the suspect’s mother. She informed Officers that her son is a Heroine Addict and has been arrested on multiple occasions for burglaries and theft. This morning, she handed him
finance to purchase a loaf of bread. He utilised the cash to purchase drugs. His mother refused to allow him back into their home when he returned empty handed. He thereafter decided to break into a neighbour’s home to steal something of value to sell and purchase a loaf of bread.
A complainant could not be obtained for the house break-in which resulted in the suspect’s release.
