Man stabbed and shots fired during a robbery incident in Lotusville

A 27-year-old male was stabbed twice in the back while attempting to fend off a robbery suspect on Mimosa Road in Lotusville – KZN.

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out to the scene at approximately 19:14 after residents reported shots being fired. On arrival, Reaction Officers located the victim seated on the side of the road. He was bleeding from two stab wounds to his back.

It was established that he was returning from his place of employment when he was confronted by a lone suspect who produced a knife. The victim was stabbed when he attempted to defend himself. The robber fled empty handed and fired two shots from a blank firearm. The injured male received First Aid on scene before being expedited to hospital privately. Two spent blank cartridges were recovered at the scene.

Reaction Officers conducted a search for the suspect but no arrests were made.
