Members of Empire Protection Services were alerted by Netstar for a hijacked VW Polo (Red) which was hijacked in Ferndale in Newlands East_KZN.
Members were mobilised as the vehicle was still moving, upon arrival at the last co-ordinates the vehicle was located and found to be unlocked and abandoned on an inner road in Newlands West. Upon closer inspection it was established that the battery and accessories were taken from the vehicle.
Whilst standing by for the owner of the vehicle to make his way to the vehicle with a battery and spare keys, Member’s of Netstar, SS Tracking, Newlands TRIO (SAPS) and Empire Protection Service came under Gunfire from unknown gunmen forcing the return of fire in self-defence.
No member of law enforcement were injured!
The owner of the vehicle did not desire to register a case with South African Police Service and the vehicle was handed over.
