Twenty Five (25) spent cartridges were recovered at the scene of a murder in Amaoti – KZN last night (Wednesday).
A female residing in the area contacted the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Operations Centre for assistance at approximately 20:59. The caller informed the Controller On Duty that she concealed herself in her home after a volley of shots were fired a short distance away from her location. The caller could not confirm if anyone was injured or information on the shooters.
Reaction Officers were immediately dispatched and arrived on scene with the Inanda SAPS. The bullet riddled body of a man was located outside a tuck shop.
It was established that the deceased was the owner of the business. He was in the process of locking up for the evening when four (4) men opened fire on him. The gunmen thereafter sped off in a white Toyota Etios (registration unknown).
The motive for the execution is unknown.
