In an effort to disrupt and deal with the trade of illicit, counterfeit and contraband goods the police conducted a search and seizure operation on 05 February 2025 at Fordsburg Fleemarket.
The operation which is a collaborative effort between the SAPS, Brand Protectors, SARS, Department of Agriculture, Department of Home Affairs and Traffic Wardens resulted in the seizure of counterfeit clothes, shoes, handbags, watches and illicit honey all to the estimated street value of approximately R5.2 million.
The trade of counterfeit goods is illegal and harmful to the economy of the country.
