Four speeding motorists apprehended in the Leondale area

On Friday 21 February 2025 between the hours of 05:00 and 09:30 ,the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) High Speed Unit Officers, arrested four(4) male motorists between the ages twenty-five(25)n and forty-five(45) for exceeding the speed limit of 70km/h in the Leondale area.

While Officers were performing law enforcement duties on the R554 monitoring compliance and adherence to the speed limit of 70km/h. Officers were able to stop four(4) vehicles, a Grey Toyota, a White Toyota Vitz, a Grey Ford Ranger bakkie and a White Isuzu, that all failed to comply with the designated speed limit, travelling at speed limits of 109km/h, 121km/h and 116km/h and 121km/h.

All four (4) male drivers were immediately handcuffed and placed under arrest for exceeding the speed limit. They were taken to Alberton Police Station to be detained and are expected to appear in the Alberton Magistrates Court soon.

The EMPD appeals to drivers to always practice caution and to arrive alive it is of paramount importance to adhere to speed limit on roadways.
