An upmarket home in Zinkwazi on the KZN North Coast was raided for firearms and ammunition. Members of the SAPS Economic Infrastructure Task Team followed overnight information, starting in Sydenham, Durban, where they recovered a rifle and various rounds of ammunition.
Investigations led them to a Zinkwazi home, where a 35-year-old foreign national was found guarding the property.
During a search in his presence, more ammunition was found, including:
* 2,562 x R5 rounds
* 178 x AK-47 rounds
* 20 x SG rounds
* 45 x 28G rounds
* 42 x Buckshot rounds
* 1 x R5 plastic magazine
* 2 black boxes
The man has been charged and is currently in custody.
Investigations are ongoing, and more arrests are expected soon.
