Illegal mining operations conducted in the Johannesburg district

In an effort to deal with Illegal Mining, Johannesburg district embarked on an operation to destruct confiscated tools of trade for illegal mining.

The police, together with other law enforcement agencies destructed nearly 100 pieces of equipment.

Most of the equipment was seized during operation Vala Umgodi, a multidisciplinary integrated operation aimed at destabilising illegal mining activities.

The operations were held across the district, which include Doornkop, Roodeport, Langlaagte and Florida policing precincts.
