As part of enhancing service delivery and improving police response time, the acting Sarah Baartman District Commissioner, Colonel Andries Landman has redirected four high performance motor bikes. The motor bikes, which were used to enhance police visibility along the beaches during the Festive Season were handed to areas with bad roads, extremely terrible terrain, and farms.
The four high performance motor bikes were part of the ten that were handed over by the Minister of Police, Mr Senzo Mchunu (MP) to the Eastern Cape in December 2024, to enhance police visibility along the beaches in preparation for the Safer Festive Season.
Three police stations, namely Kirkwood, received two motor bikes, with Alexandria and Kenton On Sea, each station received one. Acting District Commissioner, Colonel Andries Landman reiterated, “These motor bikes are suitable for sand and gravel roads, and will also assist in improving police reaction time”, added Col Landman.
