Vehicle Suspected To Be Stolen By Previous Owner: Durban – KZN

A 2019 model silver VW Polo that was sold & stolen within a 48 hour period is being sought after on SAPS Tongaat CAS 226/03/2025.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) was contacted by the female owner who explained that she had purchased the Volkswagen Polo with registration plates JD22BM-GP for R90 000. She paid R70 000 via EFT & the salesmen opted to hold back the log book & spare key until the balance was paid. The woman took delivery of the car at her home in Tongaat – KZN on March 19, 2025.

The vehicle was stolen on March 21, 2025 in the vicinity of Hotshots Nite Club in Tongaat – KZN at approx. 13:45 while the new owner was doing her nails. The car was in her possession for less than 48 hours before it disappeared.

When Reaction Officers checked the ownership of the vehicle, the National Traffic Information System (NATIS) showed no records. The identification presented by the male seller was traced to a deceased female and the account number that was the recipient of the R70 000 was in the name of an unknown indian male.

According to the complainant, the car was advertised for sale at R120 000 by the same salesman days after it was reported stolen. It is believed that the spare key was retained to steal the car after the monies had cleared in the recipients account. The picture of the salesman is in possession of Reaction Officers & is being withheld temporarily A case of Fraud is also being investigated
