In a concerted effort to ensure a safe and secure space during the Easter Holidays in Limpopo and beyond , six hundred and thirty-two (632) suspects were arrested, with two (02) firearms recovered during the joint operations Shanela (Kukula) conducted between Monday, 14 April and Sunday 20 April 2025.
The operation comprises various SAPS units such as Visible policing, Public Order Policing, Detective Services, SANDF, Department of Home Affairs, members of Community Policing Forum, private security and Traffic officers.
Actions executed were,
▶️ 34 unlicensed liquor premises closed.
▶️23 roadblocks were conducted
▶️ 570 premises were searched.
▶️265 farms visited.
▶️ 213 second-hand dealers were inspected.
188 suspects were arrested for being illegal immigrants, 37 for driving under influence of alcohol or drugs, 04 for illegal possession of firearms, 02 for murder, 04 for rape, 30 for dealing in liquor, 03 for dealing in drugs, 15 for possession of dangerous weapons and 72 for assault GBH.
Suspects are facing charges of,

▶️ Illegal dealing in liquor,
▶️robbery,
▶️Assault GBH,
▶️Malicious damage to property,
▶️ Illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Major General Samuel Manala, has welcomed the arrests and praised the members for working tirelessly during this Easter holidays.
The suspects have already started to appear in different magistrate courts around the province.
The police investigations are continuing.
