A suspect who stole cash from a bus was apprehended by pedestrians and beaten on the corner of Ireland & George Sewpersad Street in the Verulam CBD – KZN this afternoon (Wednesday).
The thief entered a bus and stole stack of cash that was being counted by the Conductor. He attempted to flee through a crowd, but was apprehended by pedestrians. The mob thereafter began beating him.
A member of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) was on patrol in the Central Business District when he noticed the gathering. He stopped to investigate further and was informed of the incident.
The Conductor confirmed that the stolen cash (picture 3) was recovered in the suspects possession.
The thief was released after no criminal case was desired.
